Seven MPC Members Take National Communications Contest Awards
It’s “happy dance” time for the 2018 Communications Contest! Entries that captured first place in the Missouri competition were forwarded to the National Federation of Press Women competition.
Seven members of Missouri Professional Communicators received awards in the national contest. Certificates will be delivered personally at an awards ceremony during the NFPW conference to be held Sept. 6 to 8 in Bethlehem, Pa.

Emily Klein: 1st place, front cover design on Ampersand, Webster University's student-produced newspaper; 2nd for personality profile of photographer Harry Benson. More congratulations go to Emily, who entered in collegiate-education categories, who recently earned a bachelor of arts degree in media communications-journalism.
Susan Fadem: 1st place for specialty/religion articles of “Joyous Wedding” and “Hands-on Art for the Bride.”
Deborah Reinhardt: 1st for opening children's book of “Show Me Missouri” series; honorable mention for specialty/review articles of food places in Springfield, Mo., and “Redo of Bailey’s Chocolate Bar.’
Bob Delaney: 3rd place for single news release prepared for Toys for Tots.
Kathie Sutin: 2nd for news story in a magazine, “Extreme Makeover—Eads Bridge,” and honorable mention for feature, “Soar Through the Midwest’s Best Ziplines.”
Suzanne Corbett: 3rd for a less-than-500-words feature, “Under the Big Top with the Flying Wallendas” and honorable mention for her nonfiction book, “Unique Eats & Eateries of St. Louis.”
Alice Handelman: honorable mention for specialty articles/social issues extolling Jan Scott's creative opportunities for women and Bonnie Solomon’s advocacy.

Congratulations to everyone including all members who submitted their worked in the MPC state contest. Everyone was recognized at a luncheon on April 14.
Mary Scott and Roberta Duyff also entered their work in the state contest for evaluation.
Members submitted 38 total entries and 23 first-place entries were sent to the national contest this year. The six judges are specialists in their respective communications fields: Jessica Z. Brown, Terri Gates, Karen Glines, Fran Mannino, Colene McEntee and Janice Denham.
